Is there any other way to get around this in netbeans and especially eclipse? It would be nice to be able to use another IDE but eclipse seems cluttered and intimidating. Eclipse has a workspace and extensible framework for plugins to customize the development environment. IntelliJ Idea has an integrated development environment with different features for faster and efficient coding. Generally, Eclipse handles very large and scalable projects faster and efficiently, without consuming much time for indexing the entire IDE project. Netbeans does something similar when you click build - it'll run an anagram program as the main program - but I get around it by pressing shift+f6. IntelliJ and Eclipse are the integrated development environment tools. That's 3 more minutes than necessary to run a program. On the other, if you want to spend some time customizing an environment to your specific needs and tinker with the source, Eclipse is the way to go. So on one hand, IntelliJ gives you what you need out of the box. The only solution I've discovered is to actually create the source file in eclipse and copy the code. Another advantage IntelliJ has over Eclipse is that many define Eclipse as more of a collection of plugins than an IDE on its own. After creating the folder and copying my source code file to the folder, I still can't run it. I discovered I need to create a project folder first(unlike in netbeans). When I try to run a program, I only get the option to run the ant builder. Sorry to hijack the thread but I use netbeans and find eclipse ridiculously complicated and unintuitive.
