Don't mention commercial applications, be honest about your needs for personal use, and they will get you setup in time. I was told that had I shown any indication of wanting to start a commercial business, the area I was in already had several dealers and I would have to go through them for my needs. They verified that I was wanting to setup a Motorola Online Business account AS AN INDIVIDUAL for NON-COMMERIAL and PERSONAL reasons and about a week after that it was approved. Signed up for a MOL account, about 3 weeks later there was no movement on it so I gave their phone number a call. Picked up some Motorola XPR stuff recently and wanted the latest CPS versions to play with. Just wanted to pipe in my experience with this as a Canadian. Until the EULA can be 100% verified to not be against public distribution, we will still consider this a free product that is still licensed to each requested user. That being said - we will still not discuss on here public downloading of CPS or sharing or anything else along those lines. Motorola wants to sell service and software, CPS was chump change. In all - a good move by Motorola that we all knew was coming. APX firmware should be available and free if not already.įor APX NEXT, the CPS local programming means you can program small fleets of radios but many of the cloud-connected features and RM-style fleet management will be needing RadioCentral. RM is still a system and per-unit license fee, as is MotoTRBO firmware services. MotoTRBO without RM is now a free download as you commented on here (and you need the free wideband enablement for ham programming and GMRS/MURS/etc).Īlso with that change APX CPS is now free, and APX CPS R26 and newer will support local programming of the APX NEXT.
